Comparing Runs

Overview

Users have these two options for run comparison in the web app.

Contents of Page:

Comparing Forces

Clicking the project name on the top left hand corner of the navigation bar will bring you to a table with all of your completed runs listed. (Image 1)

Summary Tab

Choosing a run as the baseline (by selecting the check box next to the run under the "baseline" column) will enable a delta comparison of the forces between the baseline run and the other runs.

By clicking on the outward facing arrow, a list of options will appear. (Image 3)

You have the option to display one run by selecting Display Individual Runs. After selecting this option, you have to pick the run you wish to display under the completed run list on the bottom left hand side.

By selecting Percent Diff, it will give you the percent difference between the selected baseline run and the other runs.

The Same Ride Height Only feature shows only the runs with the same ride height.

You are able to filter runs by entering a global pattern in the Filter Runs field. For example, RUN00* will include runs RUN001-RUN009, and RUN02* will include runs RUN020-RUN029.

Map Avg. allows the user to set it up to basic averages across the ride height map. This feature gives more detailed metrics about variable you want to study. You can weigh the individual points in the ride height map to basis them towards specific attitude. For example

The Data section allows the user to pick certain data, it would like to display in a scatter plot, line plot, and bar graph. To select the wanted data, click the first column of interest the click ctrl and the other column, only two data sections can be chosen. Once data is selected for a figure, click the Plots tab to view the data. The plot section below will give an overview of the features.

Rebalance is only beneficial if a wing sweep varying wing rotation took place for your simulations. Using simulation results, it can create a wing curve slope while also giving the user the option to change the balance after a wing sweep is run.

Mass Flow Tab

The Massflow tab only displays RUN data if your simulation had radiator internal faces. (Image 4) The section presents the mass flow of the radiator internal faces of all the completed runs. The units for the mass flow rate is kg/s. Selecting a run as baseline will enable a delta comparison of forces. Checking Do Percent will show the percent difference between runs.

Patch Groups

Clicking on the Patch Group tab will bring you to a summary of forces for different parts for each run. (Image 5) You will be able to change forces by clicking on the Drag, Lift, and Side Force buttons. Selecting a run as baseline will enable a delta comparison of forces. Checking Do Percent will show the percent difference between runs.

Plots Tab

Before clicking on the plots tab, the user needs to select data to be displayed. As mentioned above, two items need to be chosen to create a plot. To select the wanted data, click the first column of interest the click ctrl and the other column. Once data is selected, either the button for a scatter plot, line plot, or bar graph. (Image 6) After the data and plot type is created, click the Plot tab. (Image 7)

After plots are created, you can edit the plots by selecting the plot of interest. Once the plot is selected, setting option tab will appear. (Image 8) One can alter many factors i.e. chart title, axis titles, show/hide legend, width and height of columns, variables, and ranges of axis.

Custom Tab

This section is of interest if the user wants to plot the data in relation a new variable. For example if a rear wing sweep is conducted, a variable can be created to allow data to be plotted against the new variable.

Comparing Images between Runs

Comparing images and slices between sets of Runs can be easily done using the web interface.

Images and slices produced by the results of each case can be viewed and compared by using the interactive elements and keyboard shortcuts on the Compare Images/Slices page.

  • To compare images and slices, click the Compare Images/Slices menu item in the Navigation Menu. (Image 9)

Image 9: TS AUTO APP interface - Compare Images/Slices option

Image 10: TS AUTO APP interface - comparing run slices demonstration

  • There are two radio buttons below the image view which allows you to select the option to compare images or slices. Images are the different views of the vehicle as were seen under the image tab of an individual run results page, and the slices are individual frames from the movies seen in the movies tab of an individual run results page.
  • Clicking on one of the all runs / steady runs / transient run buttons will load runs into the comparison list. Runs can be dragged to switch their order, which is useful if the user wants to use the arrow keys to compare through the list in a specific order. Runs that are not of interest can be removed by clicking the 'X' associated with the run.
  • Runs, variables, and view position can be compared using the image comparison option. Select the run to start with, select the variable of interest, and then the view position you would like to compare and the first image will appear. Then use the arrow keys up / down / left / right to toggle between runs, variables, or image views. The animations below show this process.
  • Runs, variables, and slice position can be compared using the slice comparison option. Select the run to start with, select the variable of interest and the direction, then change the slice number and the first image should appear. Then the arrow keys up / down / left / right can be used to toggle changes. The animation above shows slices being compared.
  • The button Compare Selected will take you back to the run summary page where only the runs you have been comparing will be shown for numerical comparison.
