Automotive App

TotalSim Automotive App

Aerodynamic force and balance mapping application for cars.

Truck Recipe

The Truck addon recipe is intended to allow users the ability to test the aerodynamic performance of devices on a heavy-duty truck. The user can run the simulations on a range of sweep angles to allow for wind-averaged drag measurements.

Provided:

  • CAD / STL geometry of the heavy truck trailer from which the addon can be designed around.
  • Sample skirts and flat-panel tails to compare against.

Required:

  • Addon Geometry

Output:

  • Forces, Forces at Inividual Force Groups. Cumulative drag of the vehicle.
  • Images: Geometry Plots, Surface Pressure Plots, Average Velocity Plots, Surface Shear Stress Plots with oilflow streamlines
  • Movie Slices: Pressure Contour, Total Pressure Contour, Velocity and Average Velocity Contours
  • Curves: Force Convergence, Residuals

Automotive Recipe

The automotive recipe is intended to allow users the ability to test the aerodynamic performance of a vehicle at varying ride-heights and driving parameters. You would have the ability to upload any geometry including body, underfloor, front and rear wings, radiators, engine, suspensions, and wheels to the app for your simulation. The app has the capability to alter the ride height, roll, and yaw of a vehicle automatically by manipulating the CFD model.

Required:

  • Arbitrary geometry upload
  • Import wind tunnel experimental data for correlation

Input Capabilities:

  • Speed adjustment
  • Yaw adjustment
  • Roll Adjustment
  • Wing Rotation
  • Ride height adjustment

Output:

  • Forces, Forces at Individual Force Groups. Cumulative drag of the vehicle
  • Radiator flow prediction
  • Images: Geometry Plots, Surface Pressure Plots, Average Velocity Plots, Surface Shear Stress Plots with oilflow streamlines
  • Movie Slices: Pressure Contour, Total Pressure Contour, Velocity and Average Velocity Contours
  • Curves: Force Convergence, Residuals
  • Velocity scaling on all forces
  • Correlation comparisons
